Simple and practical: ten lessons to a happy dog at home, with the Netherlands’ best-known dog expert.
Ten dogs, ten lessons: become a confident dog owner in ten steps. A dog can be your most loyal companion — a friend to play, cuddle, and run with, and someone who helps you feel safe. But for that to happen, you and your dog need to understand each other.
Jeroen Oomen is the leading dog coach in the Netherlands and a trusted authority on the relationship between dogs and humans. In this book, he shares everything new and experienced dog owners need to know — from choosing the right breed and where to get your new companion, to training your dog and managing unwanted behavior.
Each chapter begins with the story of a dog, the lesson it teaches, and how you can apply that insight to your own relationship with your dog.
Jeroen has a remarkable ability to guide dog owners toward a new way of working with their dogs — based on love, patience, and an understanding of how learning works. That makes him truly indispensable. He creates happy dogs that love to learn.

Our Ollie was (and still is) absolutely adorable — but also knew exactly what she did and didn’t want. Off she went to Jeroen Oomen’s ‘doggy boot camp’. When we got her back, she walked politely on a leash and practically ate with a knife and fork. If anyone understands the soul of a dog, it’s Jeroen. — Anita Witzier
